Gordon Russell was an English designer, craftsman and educationist who worked throughout the 20th century. He started at the age of 14 by repairing furniture in his father's antiques business in Broadway, Worcestershire and designed until his death in 1980. His designs
were initially influenced by the Arts&Crafts movement and the craft skills of the local Cotswolds craftsmen. He also recognised the role the machine could play in reaching wider markets.
