An English panelled top refectory table c1900 Print E-mail

This top quality table was made in England, possibly the Cotswolds. It is all solid oak and has a solid oak frame and panel top. The colour is really warm. Length 70.5 inches long and  33 inches wide.
I have two of these only....end to end they would make a stunning 12 ft table !

A Victorian boardroom table from a shipping office 8ft across Print E-mail
This fabulous table was made sometime between 1870 and 1890. The legs are all solid English oak, and the top is English oak veneered.  The centre of the table has a 2ft inlaid compass rose showing all the points of the compass including the now little used  'West by North', etc. When aligned by a real compass, of course, all the points would then be accurate.  The table was made for a shipping office boardroom in the North of England but sadly I do not know which one. There are twelve drawers for the twelve partners. The table is 8ft across and 29.5 inches tall but comes in three parts. The top in two parts for easy moving. This is a unique piece of maritime history which would work just as well as a large dining table as a boardroom table.

An English Oak flour bin c 1820 Print E-mail
An English Oak flour bin c 1820This is an unusual angular design for a flour bin. The sides are all panelled and the size is approx 3ft 6ins by 2ft 4ins. It would make an  ideal log bin or toy box or storage for magazines and newspapers.

A top quality late Victorian oak breakfront bookcase with locks stamped Hobbs and Co London Print E-mail
A top quality late victorian oak breakfront bookcase with locks stamped Hobbs and Co London

This well proportioned bookcase was made around 1890. The oak is a good light honey colour and the piece is extremely well made. The two glazed sections in the centre have very unusual mitred closing joints which we have never come across before. (please see the close up pictures in more). The Hobbs and Co locks are of the highest quality.
Hobbs and Co was started in 1851 by an American who showed off his prowess by attending the Great Exhibition of 1851 and picking the best locks of Chubb and Co (24 mins) and then Bramah's 1760 lock which had never been picked  since it was made!  He was very much feared in London until he opened his own lock makers which was very successful.
This piece is approx 8ft tall and 9ft 6ins long and breaks down into 9 parts, so is easily fitted and transported.
