An English Art Deco satinwood dining table c1930 Print E-mail

English Art Deco Satinwood Extending Dining table.
United Kingdom
1930's
English Art Deco Satinwood Extending Dining table probably by Epstein and Sons.

This table is one of the finest quality Art Deco Tables we have had for many years. Satinwood veneers are laid on to English oak, all extending rails are also made in oak. Black Ebony stringing lines run around the top and frieze of the table, and ebony stringing runs between the columns of the base.

This was the best that money could buy at the time. It comes with one extra leaf (shown in the picture) but, if desired, the table would take another two leaves which we could have made obviously at extra cost). Currently the table extends to just under 8ft with its original one extra leaf...but it could stretch to a massive 12 ft long with the two extra leaves. The choice is yours ! The value of the table will not in any way be diminished by the addition of newly made extra leaves as, of course, no damage whatsoever is being made to the original table.

Dimensions: Closed with no leaf : 71 ins long, 30.5 ins high, 55 ins wide
Open with 1 leaf: 93.5 ins long,
Leaf is 23.5 ins wide.

A Victorian boardroom table from a shipping office 8ft across Print E-mail
This fabulous table was made sometime between 1870 and 1890. The legs are all solid English oak, and the top is English oak veneered.  The centre of the table has a 2ft inlaid compass rose showing all the points of the compass including the now little used  'West by North', etc. When aligned by a real compass, of course, all the points would then be accurate.  The table was made for a shipping office boardroom in the North of England but sadly I do not know which one. There are twelve drawers for the twelve partners. The table is 8ft across and 29.5 inches tall but comes in three parts. The top in two parts for easy moving. This is a unique piece of maritime history which would work just as well as a large dining table as a boardroom table.
